Eat to beat the sniffles

As the nights start to draw in and seasonal sniffles start to appear, take note of what you eat and make a conscious effort to eat healthy. Eating the right foods during the winter months can help keep the dreaded cold at bay.

Here are our top tips:

Try to drink herbal teas with extracts of Echinacea as this is a traditional herbal remedy used to stimulate your immune system and fend off germs.

  • Remember to eat five or more fruit and vegetables a day. Fruit and veg are packed full of vitamins and minerals which can prevent illness.
  • We’ve all heard about the benefit of vitamin C! So make sure you load up on this vitamin during the winter months. Great food sources for vitamin C are broccoli, strawberries, peppers and blackcurrants.
  • Zinc is another great mineral that stimulates your immune system and aids recovery. Pumpkin seeds are a great source of zinc.
  • Most importantly never forget to eat a meal. Regular meals will ensure that you are consuming the right vitamins and minerals so that you can function and also workout.
